What to Expect

Preparing for a treatment

Plan to arrive at the clinic 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time to fill out paperwork. You can save time by obtaining all of the necessary forms beforehand by either contacting the clinic or downloading them here:

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that will allow for easy access to your lower legs, arms, and abdomen and in which you will be comfortable being in one position for half an hour.

Have something to eat a few hours before your treatment. You don't want to be hungry or overly full during bodywork.

Get plenty of rest the night before a treatment.

Allow for a few extra minutes for parking, checking in, and relaxing before your session.

What will happen in the clinic?

We welcome you into the clinic. Feel free to have some water or tea and relax before your session.

First we will have an interview in a private room where you can tell us about your health concerns and goals and we will go over the information you have provided and ask you questions. Some of these questions will be similar to those other doctors have asked you, but some will be new. At the end of the interview, we may look at your tongue, feel your pulses on both wrists, and examine your abdomen. These are all techniques that are used to design your individual treatment plan that will optimize your healing.

If you agree, we will then begin the treatment part of the session.

Your first session will last a total of 60-90 minutes.

After the session

Most people feel relief in their symptoms either immediately or within the first two days. Right after the treatment, people have a deep sense of relaxation, stress relief, and report feeling mild euphoria. Try to avoid excess stress or exertion after a treatment. If you receive acupuncture, a sensation that some of the needles are still there is normal and usually goes away after a while. You can gently massage any spots that remain tender.

On rare occasions, the original symptoms may briefly get worse. Such flare-ups typically occur later on the day of your treatment or the next day. Improvement and relief will follow.

Your feedback is vital to our ability to treat you effectively. Please let us know about any concerns or questions that you have.
